Kelly spent over twenty years playing throughout
the Midwest, propelled by the interest he developed during research
for his Home on the Range album. He evolved, by necessity, into a
one-man show, featuring guitar, fiddle, spoons, cigar box fiddle,
and vocal renditions of folk songs.
While he has recently shifted his emphasis toward solo guitar playing,
Kelly still gets out and sings the old tradition songs that took root
in the Midwest during the 1800s. He also enjoys a chance to sing for
children and their parents, grandparents and great-grandparents; the
old songs like Turkey In the Straw and Home On the
Range seem to resonate with all age groups, and are lots of
fun for singing and clapping along. |
