Plaid People is composed of a globe-trotting banjo player who composes contemporary music and often plays with a bow, a guitarist who wrote the theme song to KCPT's "Rare Visions& Roadside Revelations", and a cellist who refuses to limit herself to orchestras and other scripted ensembles. Paul Elwood, Kelly Werts and Susan Mayo only recently began playing concerts of experimental down-home music together, although they have worked together in many combinations and settings throughout the past twenty-five years. They liken their music to "notes spilling off a page; though much is planned, there is much that can happen unexpectedly".
